Camden fire

I'm sure if you live in south England/have seen the news recently/were in Camden last night/were phoned by someone that was in Camden last night then you'll know what I'm talking about.

I personally check 2 of those options, I live in south England and was there, great, now where's my 'I was at the great fire of Camden' t-shirt? Too soon? I underestimated you. Bets on shirts like this actually being made?

But seriously, it was....weird, I didn't know how to react because I'd never seen a real fire before [lighters and fireplaces don't count, smartasses....] and I was just sad/confused/excited at the same time. I knew eff all about the fire until I actually got to Camden at about 8, fire had apparently started some time between 7 and 7.30. I got out of the tube station and could see flames and got really confused/shocked but I thought the bridge was on fire as it was right by the bridge next to The Hawley Arms. My mouth dropped as soon as I saw it and I wanted to ask someone what was going on but was too fascinated.

I got to The Buck's Head, where we were hanging out that night, and was like, "....Do you guys know there's a fire outside??" and they did. They were all happy that the Hawley Arms wasn't on fire though...but they spoke too soon. The Hawley went up in flames and so did the Lock market.

This fire went on for AGES, I could still see flames at about 1am. So big too, seeing as I could see it from the tube station and it takes a good 5 mins to get from there to The Hawley Arms if you walk at a steady pase...I walk fast so, different for me.

The streets of Camden were packed with people in awe of the fire and soon after I got to The Buck's Head, we were asked to leave as the fire was heading in our direction apparently, and they put a police seal tape thing all round it!

My thoughts are, it's sad but not devastating to me - I wasn't employed in the places that got burned, I didn't hang in the Hawley as much as I do with other pubs and, the part of Camden I mainly shop in wasn't affected! At first I thought it was and I got really upset cause the shops opposite The Hawley are really good.

Well....mums were phoned, let me tell you...
