Okay first off, I don't want to take anything away from Robots in Disguise who I saw last night because they did an amazing set and are amazing live, they're mental and I reeeeally got into it! But I saw Noel again and I find it much easier to explain meeting someone I love than seeing a band I like live. Mainly because when you see a band live, so much goes on that it's either hard to remember it all or hard to put into words. For me, anyway....
RARRRRR, anyway what am I doing?? I need to stop explaining myself and just get to the point of what happened last night...and I shall, step into my brain box kids and hold onto the railings, don't lose anyone that may be with you or else you're never going to see them again and mind the hot river of molten insanity.
We managed to get to the front row to see them, which was good because I wasn't squashed and hot from all angles like the other people in the crowd! But previously in the queue, a few things happened that I shall merely list for time saving's sake:
Mike Fielding walked past as he was DJing that night and as he walked down the alley that we were all lining up in, a few people got ecstatic and 2 ran after him WHILE HE WAS ON THE PHONE and started hugging him and stuff. I felt so bad for Mike, specially on the phone! I was saying that if Noel had walked the same way, he would have been jumped on and raped, essentially!
Me and a few friends were dancing to some Robots and various other songs with my mates speakers too, that was nice...
That's not really a list, is it? There was one point and then one slightly weak point that didn't really have to be mentioned. Oh, it was really cold too, does that count as a point?
Back to the actual gig....
The Michelles and The Daggers were on before and The Daggers were really good!! I didn't have the energy to appreciate the support bands though because I was tired as hell and at one point I fell asleep on my friend's shoulder for a bit and my legs nearly collapsed about 3 times. But as soon as the Robots came on, I didn't think I'd be as awake as I was but I wasn't even really tired anymore!!
They played a really good set and they're so energetic!!!
I think people need to see them live to truly appreciate them to the full because first off when I first ever heard them, I thought they sounded like someone had given a couple of children some instruments and they just screamed and bashed them about. Then I ended up liking them a bit because I heard Sex Has Made Me Stupid and loved it! Only that one song though, then I saw them DJ a few times in Camden and started liking them as people and cause they played their stuff too, I got more used to it. Now I can say that I really do enjoy them, not quite love though, but getting there!
Mike was DJing in a booth by the balcony upstairs and I didn't really get to speak to him but it was alright, I appreciated his DJing and saw him briefly at the end.
So yeah, awesome set and so glad most of the songs that were played...I actually knew! Cause they just got a new album out and I've only heard about 3, maybe 4 songs off of there and I thought if they focused on the new album then I'd be lost. But La Nuit and DJ's Got A Gun were well-received by me!!
They both crowdsurfed at different times and Sue's leg nearly hit me... Anyhow, what about the Fielding, you ask? Well...
I was in the crowd rocking out and was nearly convinced that he wasn't going to show up, even though he said he would, but it was about 10.30pm by then and the Robots had already done half their set! I see an arm try and push its way next to me, turn round and realise it's Noel, he goes, "Hey!! How are you?" I went, with a surprised look on my face, "I'm alright! How are you??" he said he was good and stood next to me for a bit.
His main intention was to try and get Dee's attention but she wasn't looking our way when he was there, he was going, "Dee!!" a lot and looked at me a couple of times in despair/amusement, "Dee!!! Delia!!" he turns to me, "See? Nothing." I didn't know what to say to that, apart from smile....
She finally noticed him and went, "Where the fuck have you been??" and Noel smiled.
So he hung there next to me for a while and I thought I'd write out a message on my phone again and show him. This time it said, 'Are you going to be hanging about after the gig?' and he read it, looked at me and nodded with a smile, "Are you?" he says and I said yeah, then he said something else which I don't remember or even hear actually cause it was too loud.
Finally after about 10 mins he goes, "Aw, I've gotta get outta here" as it was really hot and stuff and he was wearing a leather jacket! So we said bye to each other and that was that.
I didn't see him at the end because he was in the backstage bit I assumed, which I wasn't actually allowed in, so bleh to him. ![]()
But yeah, seriously a good night and I hope to see both Noel and Robots in Disguise again soon!
Oh wow! see, you're practicly mates now! haha. I'm suprised he didnt get bundled by girls, just standing there in the crowd?
I know what you mean abot the robot's music, it took me a while to get used to, but I would LOVE to see them live. so once again, insanely jealous!!
