Are you Horror-fied yet?
How about now?
Tonight was the first time I ever saw The Horrors do a live set, I've been waiting to see them do a set since last year when I heard they were touring but somehow, even though I live somewhere really easy to get to and from near London, never got to see them. I was closest when I found out they were playing at Reading Fest., which is where I live, but I didn't have any money so couldn't go! Gutted.
So, this is insane...well, not really but we got near the venue to meet someone for tickets and I went, "Let's check if there's a queue, there's not going to be but let's check just to make sure, yeah?"...it was 4.15 by then and there was already about 50-70 people there!! We were gonna get there at 5!
Right so we queued from then and then we got in at about 5.40.
Just remembered, a few people were chanting, "We want Rhys!" in the queue and he wasn't even about, they just liked him, awh! You'd expect them to want Josh, huh? Well I did, everyone seems to love him most.... Glad it was Rhys though.
INSIDE
I won't bother naming them as I don't actually know their names but the support bands were on and during the 2nd band, people already started pushing and stuff and I didn't like it because I couldn't stand properly and I nearly lost my shoe twice. My legs couldn't stop shaking after that, I think it was slight shock because I nearly got killed in a mosh pit back in 2005 and it began like that.
So I told my friend I had to get out when the 3rd band were on cause it was getting worse and I was feeling worse so we did. We got a better view from the back anyway and later on for The Horrors, we stood on some steps so we could see all!!
They played 4 songs I hadn't heard and the rest were most off the album I think. Though gutted they didn't play Jack the Ripper. I went insane for Count in Fives though, that song always seems to provoke something in me anytime I hear it in a gig, even if it's just being played as part of a DJ set!
Anyway, Faris didn't do anything amazing like stage dive or try for the ceiling [ceiling was really high up anyway, but how he ever got onto the ceiling in any of their gigs is beyond me]...but he somehow got hold of a massive Rubix cube?!
Only thing I remember him saying was, "Where's the Rubix cube?? I don't want it back, I just want to know where it is!" He said more but it was mostly incoherent/Faris talk that I didn't get like, he also said, "Sorry for disguising my identity [incoherent Faris-talk]" and several people went, "What??", specially as he didn't even have something over his head like he sometimes does!
Rhys...well, Rhys did more dancing than playing it looked like! He looked amazing though cause the lights from the stage were green/yellow with smoke and all of their silhouettes looked genius, specially his cause he was dancing a lot and being...well, Rhys! In fact, my mate [not a Horrors fan], said she liked Rhys the best!
Well not a whole ton else happened...but I COULD HAVE GONE TO THE AFTERSHOW PARTY but didn't.
Apparently Rhys invited the girl I met off the horum to it and she invited me but we couldn't find her after cause I stopped to say bye to a mate outside. Then someone else from the horum said I could phone Rhys and ask about it cause apparently he's really nice about getting people into the aftershow. I would have if I knew him but I didn't, it seemed a bit desperate, "RHYS!! Hi, you don't know me but can I come to the aftershowwww?? I love your band!!"
So yeah, it was such an ace night and I really really....REALLY love The Horrors. Who'd have thought a little obsession from last year would turn them into my favourite band? It isn't even just about the music to me, it's about them and seeing what they're like in tour diaries and stuff, I love all that!
Their looks are minor to me now...yes, I still think they're all attractive but I don't care, I am way too involved in the music now and I love finding out what the lyrics mean.

I'm glad you enjoyed the show, even from the back! You should have a tee-shirt that says "I survived the Horrors!"
Glad you made it back a live to tell us all about it!

As for their music, I have to admit, they've re-opened the door to my love for 60s music and now I'm not ashamed as I once was. For me, I love a band who does something different, but seems to encapture me with their looks as well as their music...
Well, enough of that mumbo-jimbo!
