Has anyone realised that the mannequins that you find in shop windows are getting skinnier? I can't remember what they looked like like a decade ago or something [well, I was like 9, I didn't really care] but I swear something has changed.

Like, they look a bit too skinny!  They're really bony and stick-like and it kind of makes me sick. They don't look abnormal, I wouldn't go that far, but is designing them to be that skinny really a good idea? Sure, models are that skinny, the ones that walk down the catwalk and show off their bones to fashion enthusiasts but people are MAKING dummies look like this!

When you go by shop windows, the main focus is on the clothes they are wearing, yes, but aren't the mannequins also meant to portray how you should look to look good in those clothes? Well, not how you should look but...a figure that shows off the clothes to their full potential. For example, if you want to show how good a specific outfit looks, would you use a size 20 models in shops? No, you wouldn't, would you? That's what society's like.

I'm not saying that all shops should have different sized mannequins because I'm such a DOWN WITH SOCIETY'S IDEALS!! person, what I AM saying is that I think the slim mannequins need to put on a few pounds, because it's horrible sometimes.

I get that people like slim and slender, I get that...but this is bones I'm talking about! Ribs, bony knees, bony ankles, arms that could snap in a strong breeze....

Why? I'm being legit here - why?

Society is trying so hard for a perfect world where they airbrush the imperfections, slim down the fat and cut out the lies. Nothing seems real anymore, just like the plastic used to make the mannequins.

Skinny is everywhere nowadays, no wonder body conscious girls are getting a hard time.
