I just want to know: how many chapters are usually in the books that people read and how long are they, page wise?
I read this one answer from a similar question on a site about writing and the answer was that they had seen chapters from 1 to 100 pages long and that it didn't matter, as long as the chapter felt like it ended properly, taking the rest of the chapter into consideration.
BUT, I want to know what the average is so I know how far or not I'm deviating from the average.
I'm not familiar with putting chapters into stories and this is only about the sixth time I've done it since I started writing as a hobby when I was 13.
The first chapter in my novel I barely count as a proper chapter, and that's only four and a half pages long [A4 size], but I like it short like that as it's only an introductory chapter to ease the reader in and understand the main character more, but the next one is seven pages long [again, A4 sized] and I feel it might be too short, but the chapter really did feel like it came to a proper end.
I'm likely to go over it and add a lot more description [not too much, mind...just a few more adjectives here and there] throughout the whole thing but as it stands, it's 7 A4 pages long, is that a bit too short for a chapter?
Oh, note that I'm aiming to get this up to 250-300 A4 pages in total upon completion.
Also note, I'm definitely not naming it 'Romeo + Julian' in the final edit, sorry if that upset anyone. :P
EDIT: I think I decided to add a whole lot to the end of the 2nd chapter after all but the question still stands as I'm likely to feel finished after seven pages sometime soon again.

I would agree with the answer given - the shortest chapter I've seen was just a single sentence, and the longest was probably over 100 pages. Do what your story requires.
One further thing I'd add is that genre is a factor. Action stories tend to have shorter chapters for example.
